What is the difference between this:
<style>
div {
position: absolute;
left:350px;
top:250px;
}
</style>
and this:
<style>
div{
position: relative;
left:350px;
top:250px;
}
</style>
The placement of these two divs will be rather different. Absolute is easy enough to explain. You will have your div show up in the same place on the page no matter what the size of the browser window. It will always and forever be in the exact same position.
Relative, however, is a bit more complicated than that. You are moving whatever the div contains in relation to where it would have been if you never gave it a position. So if I was to put 2 div boxes up, they would be one right after the other going down the left side of the page. If I then move the 2nd div to relative, and tell it where to land, it will move over in relation to where it USED to be.
The best description I could find as to how these two things work was in this CSS Layout website. I hope it helps to explain what the difference is between the two attributes and how you can use them to your advantage.

I’ve got two things to note at the beginning of this week’s post. First, apologies for missing last week’s post in this series. I was actually in the ER last Monday night so I wasn’t able to post.
Second, I was searching for a meme to feature this week, and I had found one that I would have really loved to feature. I liked the premise behind it, but then I discovered that the blog is private. You have to email the site author for access. I figured if I didn’t want to go through all of that to feature this meme, you wouldn’t want to jump through hoops to participate. So side note to meme owners: Make them accessible to the public!
On to today’s Meme. The meme I’ve chosen is called Music Memoirs: Random 10. This meme is posted on Sundays, and is what it sounds like. If you choose to participate, you post 10 songs that either sum up your weekend, or were on your playlist over the weekend. You’re also asked to post a picture to go with your Random 10 Playlist. You can make this simple and just post a list of 10 songs, or you can go a little more in depth and explain why you chose the songs you did. As with all memes, don’t forget to leave a comment on the main post for the week so everyone knows you played along!
What memes would you guys like to see featured here in the future?

The weekend has surfed right past me. I think I spent the majority of it under a pile of blankets feeling a bit yucky. Normally you’d hear from me on Friday, but my brain fog combined with my lousy immune system decided that we should post on Sunday instead. Fortunately I had a blog in mind all week that I wanted to talk about, and here it is, 5 Minutes for Mom.

This blog is mostly mom geared, as you can tell by the title. What mom doesn’t need 5 minutes to herself!?! I know I sure could use a few minutes now and then. Authors Janice and Susan are identical twins, moms, and internet savvy women with some great ideas. You’ll find great features like “ask our organizer” and cool blog contests going on at any given time. It’s a really active blog with something always going on. They’ve even added a blog directory that you can submit your link to for free.
I think what’s most fun about this blog is that it’s mixture of all the things a mom on the internet might need or be. There’s a little bit of personal, a little bit of business savvy, some social ideas, and some moments of faith. It’s all mixed together in a pot and served up on a blog for you to enjoy.
Really I could go on about this blog for a couple hours typing away at the keyboard telling you loads of good stuff about it. But, the best thing to do is check it out for yourself. I throw in some stats here at the end for our statsholics ~ PR6 ~ Alexa 120,842 ~ and Technorati Authority of 2,964. There you have it folks. Happy blog reading!

Today’s post on paid blogging will revolve around the company “ReviewMe”. Each Wednesday, we’ve been looking at the paid blogging companies, and taking an in depth look at each one. If you’d like to read the previous reviews, or see a full list of blogging companies, be sure to click on the Paid Blogging category to the right.
ReviewMe can be found at ReviewMe.com. They are a company that offers a service to both the advertiser, and the blogger. We’ll be focusing on the blogging side of the company. When you register your blogs with ReviewMe, your blog is assigned a rating and a “going price”. That price is what a review will sell for on your blog. You have the option to edit the price. They suggest the going rate, but if you go through your “Manage My Blogs” page, it allows you to submit a different price. With ReviewMe, it’s a 50/50 split. If you’re blog has a price tag of $60 for a review, then both you and ReviewMe see $30 from the review. If somebody has chosen to hire you, you’ll receive an email, and you can then choose to accept or decline the offer.
Another newer feature to ReviewMe is their Marketplace offers. These are offers that you can select, rather than the advertiser selecting you. They offer a flat fee of $5.00 for the marketplace offers, and there are basic directions that come along with the offers. The review must have a minimum of 200 words, though it may run longer. There is a specific link they want you to place in your post, and you must use it at least once. Also, like all the other review companies, they want unique content. I just accepted an offer today, July 25th. I have until July 31st to turn the review in. They offer you a long period to write the content up.
One of the things they also offer is using an affiliate badge. If you place one of their badges on your site, and an advertiser comes to them via that badge, you receive a referral fee. That review has to make it to completion, meaning a review was purchased and completed before you’ll see the $25 referral fee. Get Reviewed At ReviewMe! You can choose to use this affiliate text, or use a badge they’ll create for your blog.
Payment is made through PayPal or check. You can set your option in your profile.

I just realized that the last few weeks, I have been explaining how to use certain plugins, but I never told you where to find more plugins to choose from. Silly me! Wordpress has finally finished the Plugin Directory, they had one before but it was poorly organized, now you can just go here, and be able to see most of the plugins in one place, organized and easy to use.
They have a featured plugin area, with some of the newer or popular plugins, and they have a list in the sidebar of them organized by tags. So, if your looking for widgets, you just click on the widget tag. Each plugin has a description, instructions, and the ability to download it, along with one more important factor- Reviews.
Don’t hesitate to sign up for a free account so you can contribute to the reviews, post if it was easy to install, or if you thought it needed a little more explanation on how to install and use. The author of the plugin will never know these positives or negatives without your input. You comment could also help others who may be deciding on downloading the plugin.
You can also do a Google search for “wordpress plugins” to find some more, the wordpress site is probably the biggest listing, but by no means to they have every plugin. Yet.
