Memes: Weightloss Wednesday

Posted by Jennifer on August 15th, 2007

Well, I’m two days late on this post this week, considering I usually post on Mondays. I had a meme all picked out to profile this week, and then I realized that I didn’t know how to do it myself. I set out to figure it out, but two days later, I’m still lost. So, since I don’t know how to do it, I figured I shouldn’t try to explain it to you guys! Instead, I’ll feature a meme that I can explain :)

Since it’s Wednesday, I thought I’d find a meme that runs on Wednesdays. That made me think of Weightloss Wednesdays.

Run by twomomsinablog.com, Weightloss Wednesdays is a bid to unite those of us who are locked in that epic battle to lose the extra weight. Every Wednesday, post about your achievements, disappointments, and your goals for the following week. It’s quite well known that those who have a support system are more likely to lose the weight and keep it off. If you’re like me, you don’t necessarily have someone on the weight loss track with you. Just join weightloss wednesdays, and you can have a built in support system. What better to help encourage you and keep you on track than a bunch of great ladies who are attempting to lose weight as well?

Feel free to use the banner that’s been provided in your posts, they just ask that you link it back to Two Moms in a Blog. Visit their Weightloss Wednesday to get the details. I participated in this meme myself for a while at the beginning of this year, before my diet imploded. I’m thinking about doing it again.

Okay, I’m off to try and figure out how to do the original meme… I’m determined to be able to profile it for you before all of this is said and done! :)

Memes: Music Memoirs

Posted by Jennifer on July 30th, 2007

I’ve got two things to note at the beginning of this week’s post. First, apologies for missing last week’s post in this series. I was actually in the ER last Monday night so I wasn’t able to post.
Second, I was searching for a meme to feature this week, and I had found one that I would have really loved to feature. I liked the premise behind it, but then I discovered that the blog is private. You have to email the site author for access. I figured if I didn’t want to go through all of that to feature this meme, you wouldn’t want to jump through hoops to participate. So side note to meme owners: Make them accessible to the public!

On to today’s Meme. The meme I’ve chosen is called Music Memoirs: Random 10. This meme is posted on Sundays, and is what it sounds like. If you choose to participate, you post 10 songs that either sum up your weekend, or were on your playlist over the weekend. You’re also asked to post a picture to go with your Random 10 Playlist. You can make this simple and just post a list of 10 songs, or you can go a little more in depth and explain why you chose the songs you did. As with all memes, don’t forget to leave a comment on the main post for the week so everyone knows you played along!

What memes would you guys like to see featured here in the future?

Memes: Friday’s Feast

Posted by Jennifer on July 16th, 2007

I came very close to choosing another photo meme to profile today, but I decided that I didn’t want to give you the impression that the only memes available out there are ones that involve posting photos. Therefore, today’s meme is Friday’s Feast.

Every Friday, you can visit FridaysFeast.com to get the five questions that have been posted for the week. It is called a “feast” because rather than just numbering the questions 1-5, they’ve been given the headings of “Appetizer, Soup, Salad, Main Course, and Dessert.”

All you have to do to participate is copy and paste the current week’s questions to your own blog, and publish a post with your answers! Like all of the memes, be sure to visit the Friday’s Feast site to let them know you participated so that others can find you! Memes like this are a great way to let your reader’s get to know you, on topics you might not think to blog about otherwise.

Do you participate in Friday’s Feast?

Memes: Wordless Wednesday

Posted by Jennifer on July 9th, 2007

First of all, I need to apologize for missing the opportunity to share a meme with you last week! I’ll be honest and say I forgot until it was far too late to do justice to a topic. (A.K.A., I was already in bed, half asleep, and wasn’t getting back up!) Let’s soldier on though!!

Today, we’ve got an easy meme, and it’s called Wordless Wednesday. When you click on that link, and visit the wordless wednesday page, you will notice two things. One is that their tagline says that they are NOT a meme, and the second is that there really isn’t any information there. Let me address those issues. As far as their tagline “It’s not a meme, it’s Wordless Wednesday!” I say if it looks like a meme, and it acts like a meme… I think you know where I’m going with this.
As far as the lack of information, that is probably because Wordless Wednesday, while being a very popular meme has very little structure. There are only two guidelines for this meme:

1. Post a picture on Wednesday.
2. Do not write any explanation to go with the picture. That’s the wordless part.

Now, I don’t participate in this meme personally because I lack the ability to post *anything* without explaining it at least a little! I see Wordless Wednesday posts all over the internet, and think they are perfectly fabulous with no explanations! That’s part of what makes the meme so interesting.

This is a very easy meme to jump in on. Just post a picture of anything you want on Wednesday, with no words. Then visit the Wordless Wednesday blog to leave behind your link, and visit other WW participants. There is no set topic for the pictures– your creativity is the only limit. Enjoy!

Memes: Self Portrait Sunday

Posted by Jennifer on June 25th, 2007

The first meme I’m going to feature belongs to our very own Cass. It also happens to my very favorite meme (and coincidentally, the only one I’ve personally managed to keep up with on any regular basis).

The meme is “Self Portrait Sunday,” and, as the name suggests, the meme takes place on Sundays at DigiCass.com. All you need to participate is a camera and a blog.

How? Simple– take a picture of yourself every Sunday (or Saturday, or Monday if you’re prone to forgetfulness like some of the rest of us). It doesn’t have to be a picture of your face– a couple weeks ago, I posted a picture of my feet. Hands, hair, and ankles are all fair game, whatever expresses YOU at that moment. When you’ve got your picture, post it to your blog with a link to DigiCass. Once you’ve got your entry up, visit the Self Portrait entry at DigiCass and leave a comment. That way everyone else who has posted a picture will know where to find you. Make sure you visit the rest of the blogs that have participated because seeing everyone else’s pictures is half the fun!

If I’ve managed to make this more complicated than it needs to be, visit the main Self Portrait Sunday page. That’s also the place to get your buttons like the one at the top of this entry.
